The Baumé Dining Room Will Be Open for a Thanksgiving Dinner Celebration
Michelin-starred Chef Bruno Chemel’s Baumé in Palo Alto will be open on Thursday, November 26 for service in the dining room. With four tables in a 1,500 square foot space, the restaurant affords guests the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving by enjoying acclaimed French cuisine moderne served in semi-private, peaceful surroundings.
Available will be $298.00 seven-course prix fixe and $398.00 nine-course prix fixe (see attached) tasting menus prepared using seasonal, mainly locally sourced ingredients and inspired by “collective memories, colors, moods, respect, culinary design and happiness.” Wine pairings will start at $298.00 per person with each party/table needing to order at least one pairing (can be shared/split). The Baumé wine list has historically consisted of value driven vintages from France.
Seating times for Thanksgiving dinner, based on one turn per table for the evening, will be 5:30, 6:00, 6:30 or 7:00 p.m.
Reservations, taken up to 30 days in advance, are available via Tock on a pre-paid basis. At this time, Baumé cannot accommodate walk-in guests, young children, corkage requests and most ingredient substitutions. Currently the world’s only Michelin two-star restaurant with a two-person staff, Baumé opened in 2010 and subsequently received a Michelin star after less than a year in business. Chef Chemel was a top graduate of the culinary school in Moulins, France while working at the Michelin two-star Jean Pierre Billoux. He also graduated from the Lenotre Pastry Academy in Paris, received Certificats De Travail at multiple Michelin three-star establishments and taught with Joel Robuchon and Guy Savoy.
The Baumé dining room decor is simple, intimate and elegant. Highlights include clean lines, minimal detailing, interesting textures, pendant light shades, area rugs, rug tile flooring, and wall hanging Zen artwork from Precious Pieces in New York City. Drapery with bold patterns and rich colors divides the dining area into intimate spaces. The color scheme of citrus orange and dark chocolate contributes to a “zentual” dining experience.
Chef Chemel comments on his ongoing commitment to protecting the health of his guests saying, “I have rigorous protocols in place that relate to distancing, table service, food prep, cutlery, glassware and much more. We are also using a medical grade air purifier with HEPA filters.”
Baumé is located at 201 California Avenue, at Park Avenue, in Palo Alto, California. Dinner is served in the dining room Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, plus lunch on Friday.
