Recognizing the Signs of Depression and Anxiety in Children and Teens
Anxiety disorders affect one in eight children and one in four teens. Research shows that untreated children and teens with anxiety disorders are at higher risk to perform poorly in school, miss out on important social experiences, and engage in substance abuse and other self-destructive behaviors. Anxiety disorders often co-occur with depression as well as eating disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and others. With treatment and support, children and teens can learn how to successfully manage the symptoms of anxiety and depression and live healthy, happy lives. It is critical that those in the child’s system of support be able to identify the signs of depression and anxiety and know when s/he needs help. Join Hively CEO and licensed therapist, Kelly O’Lague Dulka, MSW, LCSW to learn how to recognize the signs of depression and anxiety in children and teens and what steps to take when you do. PART 1.
