May Executive Speaker Series with Brian Brennan
Join us for our May Executive Speaker Series as we hear from Brian Brennan!Brian Brennan is married to Wendy, and together they are parents to three young children. They are part of St. Lucy Catholic community in Campbell, and their three young children attend St. Patrick Catholic School in downtown San Jose. In his professional life, Brian is Senior Vice President with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, where he leads the organization's recruiting and research efforts. Brian also heads the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation’s Emerging Tech Policy Initiative – an effort to help California state legislative staff better understand the big technology trends of our time, and the implications for public policy.Prior to joining the Leadership Group in 2008, Brian worked for several years on political development programs for the U.S. Agency for International Development in Russia, and served with international affairs nonprofit organizations in California, Texas and Mexico. Brian has written on politics and policy for America Magazine, the National Catholic Reporter, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the San José Mercury News, and served as an adjunct professor of political science at San José State University. He has also long been active in his community, having served on the Santa Clara County Senior Care Commission, on the City of Campbell Planning Commission, on the St. Lucy’s Catholic Church Parish Council, and as a YMCA youth basketball coach. In 2011, Brian was named to the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list of young Silicon Valley leaders to watch, and in 2019 was selected for Harvard Business School's Young American Leaders Program. Brian has a PhD from Oxford University, a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School, and a BA with honors in American Studies from Stanford, where he was an All-American rugby player. At our Executive Speaker Series, attendees have opportunities to network while enjoying complimentary refreshments prior to the talk. During the presentation, guest speakers share their unique life story as it relates to their professional and spiritual journey. While the specific topic and focus will vary depending on how each speaker tells his or her story, general themes include lessons on navigating different career choices and progression, seeing examples of how to integrate faith into one's daily life, and hearing advice on growing family and personal relationships. Each talk culminates with a Q&A session with our speaker where audience members can ask questions.
