DemActionSF & SwingLeftSF & SisterDistrictSF - Mission Phone Bank
We will be calling for two state races both on April 2nd: Election for Supreme Court Justices in Wisconsin & Special Election in Pennsylvania District 37 State Senate for Pam Iovino. Wisconsin is home to some of the worst examples of Republican gerrymandering in the country. Case in point: last November, Republicans won 63 percent of State Assembly seats—despite losing the popular vote. Pennsylvania is a critical swing state, but thanks to a long history of Republican gerrymandering, the Republicans hold large majorities of power in the state legislature. In 2018 we broke their supermajority, but Flipping District 37 blue is critical if the Democrats are to take back the chamber in 2020 prior to redistricting. Helping Pam Iovino win will bring us within four seats of flipping the chamber next year and ensure Democrats can fight for new, fair maps after the census, in 2021. The April 2nd State Supreme Court election in Wisconsin and the April 2nd State Senate race in PA are our best chance to reverse the damage done by Republicans in these states' elections systems. We’ll be calling Democratic voters in Wisconsin, every Saturday in March, to make sure they know about this crucial off-cycle election which will have a huge impact on whether new, fair maps are drawn in 2021, and Democratic voters in PA to make sure they know about this crucial off-cycle, special election and to vote for Pam Iovino. Democracy Action, Swing Left, and Sister District Project SF will be phone banking on March 16th, 23rd, and 30th at Manny's in the Mission. Come down early for some brunch before making calls, and support a great new community space. Don't worry if you've never reached out to voters before - we'll train you how. Remember to bring your phone, laptop computer or tablet, chargers, and headphones to make calls. If you do not have a laptop, please email firstname.lastname@example.org as we may be able to provide you with a loaner. The best way to reach Manny's is via public transit. It is a 1-minute walk from the 16th St BART Station, on several MUNI lines (14, 22, 33, 49, 55, a short walk from the J), as well as near four bike share stations. If you must drive, there are a few parking lots in the area.
