Defensive Tactics (DT) training is an annual mandatory training requirement for all APD armed staff and is optional for non-armed sworn staff. DT training is offered monthly, and staff can now register for one of the next six sessions scheduled July 2018 through January 2019. All DT training will be held at the CASC from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The class will start promptly at 8:00 am. The instructors will be available before class, during lunch, during breaks, and after training to assist students that request an additional instruction on the techniques. Please note that DT participants have the same testing requirements at the completion of the class. If you have questions about the DT training curriculum and how you can best to prepare, please contact email@example.com or 415-241-4231. For concerns regarding your participation in the training exercises requiring physical activity, please contact Kristin Kogure via email (Kristin.firstname.lastname@example.org ) immediately, or at least one week before your scheduled training date to discuss and or request your need for accommodation for the DT training. DT participants are encouraged to dress in comfortable clothing. We cannot allow boots or hard soled shoes on the mats due to potential injury. Mat shoes or socks are preferred. Participants are also encouraged to not wear jewelry (earrings, watches, bracelets, rings) as they can cause injury. Please bring your handcuffs and Force Options Binder with you. This training is mandatory for all armed officers. Participants will receive up to 8 hours of STC credit. Armed officers must complete this training by 12/31/2018.
