"CONTINENT’S EDGE" by Julia Munger Seelos

Julia’s impressionistic paintings capture the magnificent California coast - from the crashing waves along the Monterey Peninsula to the oak studded hills and eucalyptus of the San Francisco Peninsula.

Julia has been drawing and painting since she was a child. She then studied at Rhode Island School of Design, University of Cincinnati in Industrial Design, and got her BA at San Jose State majoring in Illustration. Julia had a full career as a display manager, including graphics and store design. While managing a large creative team she traveled the Far East and Europe gathering product inspiration. In 2005, Julia walked away from it all and began painting full-time. Growing up in Kentucky, she always had a deep connection to nature and was finally able to devote herself to landscape painting. She has traveled all over the west participating major plein air events and exhibitions from Carmel and Sonoma to the Grand Canyon and the Olympic Peninsula.

Her award-winning paintings have been in exhibitions with the California Art Club, Laguna Plein Air Painters, the Santa Cruz Art League and the Triton Museum. One of her paintings hangs in the collection at El Tovar in the Grand Canyon. Julia lives in Redwood City, which is an easy drive to Monterey, the Sierras and the Central Coast farmlands. “Continent’s Edge” highlights her paintings of this inspiring landscape.
